The System

Three layers — sense, decide, act.

SENSE

A passive-first detection network.

Distributed nodes combining acoustic sensing, passive radio-frequency techniques, and radar — including passive methods that consume existing broadcast signals and emit nothing, and resilient distributed multi-node radar. Designed to detect conventional drones and the hard cases: non-emitting, pre-programmed aircraft that defeat RF-only systems. Aerodyne operates a working multi-node radar testbed today, with field data collection underway.

DECIDE

Distributed fusion and battle management.

Detections from many heterogeneous nodes are fused into a single track picture over bandwidth-constrained, intermittently connected networks, and presented to operators through a real-time battle-management layer. This layer is built by engineers whose careers were spent on microsecond-precision, high-throughput financial trading infrastructure — systems where correctness and speed under load decide the outcome every day.

ACT

Coordination that degrades gracefully.

Aerodyne's coordination engine keeps a response fleet effective as conditions worsen, handing off across three tiers instead of collapsing.

ACT · coordination tiers, as links degrade

  1. Coordinated
Full shared picture — aircraft plan together.
  2. Local sensing
Links degraded — each aircraft acts on what it senses, still on-mission.
  3. Autonomous
Communications lost — aircraft continue useful work within operator-delegated bounds.

Planning is game-theoretic — it anticipates how conditions and adversaries react — scales to hundreds of aircraft by reasoning over population aggregates, and keeps the operator on the loop with adjustable priorities and explainable courses of action.
